my green machine

I've been battling a cold this week and my morning smoothie makes me feel like I can actually win the fight!

my green machine smoothie

a handful of frozen mango cubes

1 peeled orange

2 cups of loosely packed spinach {I'm using tender spinach from my garden - amazing}

grated ginger to taste

Makes one big glass for me plus a little extra to share with Alice.

I'm hoping to make a local version this summer substituting peaches for mangos and apple juice for oranges.

I've been meaning to start making these every morning for ages (I've been meaning to do a lot of things for ages!) and this recipe is one of the few that actually seems appetising.
How long have you been drinking them? Have you found they have all the amazing benefits people say?
Do you puree the mango and freeze it into cubes yourself?

Thanks everyone for your comments and well wishes. Unfortunately the cold heard me talking about beating it and decided to kick into high gear! At least the smoothie tastes good;)

twirling betty - Tell me about it - I also have a "should do" list the length of my arm!

As for the smoothie I have only been drinking them for a couple weeks and I must admit I am not totally diligent about having them everyday - I go in bursts. They definitely make me feel good when I am drinking them - clean, strong, energized - but this cold did kick my butt in the end so I guess the smoothie wasn't the cure-all I was hoping it would be.

As for the mango I buy it in a bag of frozen cubes but you could always cut and freeze fresh ones - especially if you are lucky enough to have them grow near by.

Good luck and let me know if you discover any great recipes. xo
